I would need to put a lot more thought into this but you get the idea! My point being there is the right way to do this and the Version Tracker way to introduce change and unfortunately MacUpdate has chosen to not learn from the past. Going forward I will still use this site but go to the developer's page for the updates and not use the links here. Don't I feel like the fool! Solo68 Nov 3 Google Chrome is full of it!
Not more than a week ago I just happened to look through Launchpad and found a Google app icon sitting there. I was completely shocked, and immediately lost my temper because the only Google software I installed on my Mac was Google Chrome. But to my utter surprise another app from Google was just sitting there in Launchpad.
So I went to my Applications folder so I could uninstall it. It was not there. The only Google app that was there was Google Chrome. Oh, I completely lost it! I thought to myself my computer, my Mac is hacked! Guess what? Along with it, now I saw three other Google apps installed. Words cannot express how furious I was to see this. I couldn't contain my anger. My tongue unleashed every verbal slur I could against Google. In a complete rage I went back to my Applications folder to see if I could find any of these Google apps.
They were no where in sight. I could barely think straight as the chemicals in my brain were firing off in skewed proportions. And guess what? Again, words cannot describe how pissed I was at this point. Immediately I began uninstalling everything Google on my computer. Long story short, Google can kiss the deepest portions of the crack of my ass!
I will never install another Google app on my computer or any other computer for as long as I live. I can care less how much anyone else love's Google, neither do I care if they think their experience with this completely intrusive developer has been a bed of roses, and neither do I care if somewhere deep in the terms of service a statement exists giving Google permission to install whatever the hell they want any time they want.
There is no need for me to tell Google to go to hell because that is already a certainty! This review also serves as fair warning to anyone with Google software installed on your computer s. Also, you can do like I did after this horrible experience and go to the Web to read of similar experiences by other computer users that just happened upon Google apps suddenly appearing on their computers if my story is not enough to convince you to stay the hell away from Google.
Lastly, I wish I could remember all of the names of Google apps that seemed to install themselves, but I was far to furious to think straight to remember. Nonetheless, I do recall seeing Google Drive as one of the four. Anyone willing, and that is a keyword, willing to continue using Google apps on your computer will not get any flack from me, but I do recommend you get your head examined because you're an idiot!
It is a good thing Apple has this app called Launchpad because without it I would never have known Google violated my privacy, and installed apps without my consent. Thanks, Apple! Guest Oct 25 It completely broke Java and other plugins, because they decided to remove standards that all other browsers support. I rolled back to version 43 for now to wait and see if they ever come to their senses and fix it, otherwise, they are recommending that you use Safari or Firefox, which I don't want to do!
Version 45 is broken too. They broke it after Sept 1st. Oclair Oct 24 This is unacceptable. Andrew-Oldman Oct 5 Using Chrome on Windows is pleasure, using it on Mac is problem. Lonewolf1 Sep 25 The latest versions have been all but good so I've left Chrome as my primary browser. There are better alternatives that actually works fine. Fringewood Sep 2 This is the most intrusive browser available, tracking every site you visit and reporting it directly to Google.
I made the mistake of installing it once, and removing it was a nightmare, self-replicating applications kept replacing what I deleted. I had to gut the application that was replacing everything wasn't easy to find and lock it so it wouldn't replace itself, to finally remove everything.
I will never install this trash again on any machine I own. Fast, responsive, intuitive, stable, good-looking, secure, multi-functional, multi-platform and so on.
MeCox Aug 19 I like Google Chrome! Google Chrome is a good browser if you want to have everything synced across your devices. That is the price to pay for quality, I guess. Many people are talking about privacy and things like that in this thread. Do you really think someone is spying on you all the time? Nobody cares about your life and browser history unless you're a president or a billionaire. Why do people always think they're so important? Awful browser.
Tracks every single move WordWeaver Aug 6 My jaw kind of dropped when I read the notation under the "What's New" section for version It simply states "This update includes a number of fixes. Is that the best explanation that a huge, rich company like Google can offer?
Do they consider us Mac users so low on the evolutionary scale that we do not deserve a more in-depth explanation regarding what is actually new in To me, that is the epitome of laziness. I rarely use Google Chrome, but that kind of a statement does not instill confidence in their product. At least with Firefox, we know what we are getting.
